Michael P. Cogan, along with his partner, Mark McNabola, formed Cogan & McNabola, P.C., in 1992. Their law firm has obtained over $300 million on behalf of their clients. Mr. Cogan has numerous multi-million dollar results for his clients by way of jury trial or negotiated settlement totaling in excess of $45 million. Although primarily practicing in Cook County, Illinois, Mr. Cogan's advocacy skills have resulted in his representation of victims of medical negligence in Florida, New Jersey, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Colorado, Missouri, Wisconsin as well as to the Queen's Court in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and has been recognized by his peers by way of induction into the Network of Leading American Attorneys. He has received the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is an Illinois Super Lawyer.
Mr. Cogan is active in numerous Bar Associations including the Society of Trial Lawyers, Illinois Trial Lawyer's Association, American Trial Lawyer's Association and Illinois State Bar Association. He has been the featured speaker at several association meetings on subjects relating to medical malpractice and written articles on the subject.
Mr. Cogan grew up in the North suburbs of Chicago and attended the University of Illinois where he obtained his college degree in 1978 and went on to attend the John Marshall Law School in Chicago (J.D. 1981). After law school, Mr. Cogan worked for the Office of the General Counsel at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. Since entering private practice in 1983, Mr. Cogan has concentrated his practice on the representation of victims of medical negligence and defective medical products.
